Scott VanSickle

Scott VanSickle enters his second season as the head baseball coach at Waynesburg Central High School. Prior to being named the varsity coach at Waynesburg Central, VanSickle was assistant head coach under Mike Humiston at Waynesburg University. Previously, Scott was the head coach at Carmichaels Area High School for four seasons where he compiled a 49 – 24 overall record. He led the Carmichaels Mikes Baseball program to the WPIAL Playoffs in all four seasons as head coach, as well as an appearance in the WPIAL title game last year and top 8 finishing in the PIAA State Tournament. VanSickle was also an assistant at Carmichaels Area High School for four seasons where they Mikes Baseball team played for 3 WPIAL Titles, winning 2 of them.
VanSickle’s collegiate baseball resume includes; one year for the Waynesburg University Baseball team in 1998. That Yellow Jacket team won the PAC Conference title and he received All-Conference honors as a freshman. After one season and the departure of Coach Mike Florak, VanSickle transferred to Division II, California University of Pennsylvania. At Cal U, VanSickle was a two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) – West selection as second basemen (2001) and short-stop (2002). The Vulcan’s won the PSAC – West title in both 2001 and 2002.
VanSickle continues to play competitively in the summer in the Fayette County Baseball Wooden Bat League where his teams have won the League Championship four times; 1999 (Carmichaels Copperheads), 2009 (Mario’s), 2013 (Carmichaels Copperheads), and 2016 (Carmichaels Copperheads).
His individual honors include, four batting titles: 2004 (.486 average), 2007 (.576 average), 2013 (.472 average), 2014 (.529 average). VanSickle was also named league MVP in 2007 and Playoff MVP in 2016.
